Bad For Me - Sound and Graphic Designer
In my role as a sound designer, and graphic designer for the short film "Bad for Me," I had the privilege of working closely with the director and executive producer to craft the entire sonic landscape of the film and create supporting graphics. From capturing audio on set using boom microphones and lavaliers, recorded onto a field recorder, to the meticulous editing process on Adobe Audition, every aspect of the film's sound was under my purview. The process involved recording and incorporating various background sounds, foley noises, and ambient tones, contributing to a rich and immersive soundscape for each moment. Additionally, I delved into the fine-tuning of ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), ensuring that each second of dialogue seamlessly fit into the overall auditory tapestry, showcasing the importance of meticulous sound design in enhancing the film's narrative impact.
Diffraction - Sound Design
My experience working on the film "Diffraction," a Marquette University department-wide feature film, was a transformative journey into the world of sound design. Under the expert guidance of my professor Don Hertz, I took on the responsibility as student of editing sound for the film, gaining invaluable insights into industry-standard principles. Collaborating alongside seasoned professionals, I delved into the fundamentals of audio design, encompassing various aspects such as sound effects, ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement), and recording techniques. This hands-on experience provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the intricate role sound plays in shaping a film's narrative and atmosphere. As the final version of the film is still in progress under the direction of Kris Holodak, this collaborative endeavor has not only expanded my skill set but also allowed me to contribute to the creation of a cinematic piece within the academic realm.
From The Hair To The Soul - Supervising Editor
Serving as the video and sound editor for my senior capstone project in Digital Media and Design was an immensely gratifying experience. From capturing the shoot's audio with a combination of boom and lavalier microphones, a practice honed throughout my career, to the final stages of editing, I was entrusted with shaping the entire visual and auditory narrative. Using Adobe Premiere for videography and Adobe Audition for sound, I meticulously crafted each frame and carefully balanced the audio elements to bring the director's vision to life. Collaborating with my two crewmates, the project was not only a testament to teamwork but also an opportunity to infuse my own stylistic choices, creating a consistent and captivating environment across all aspects of the film. This endeavor allowed me to showcase my technical skills, creativity, and dedication to delivering a compelling cinematic experience.
